After having dinner with Rev. Dan Shinoda in 1994, Scott was asked a simple question by Rev. Dan “Do you want to know the secret to a successful ministry?” Well, Rev. Dan had touched thousands of lives and helped start several churches and organizations and so Scott wanted to know the answer. Expecting a complex list of what to do, Rev Dan leaned over and said, “Pray for people and have people pray for you.” Scott thought, “that’s it?” It seemed so simple but so powerful at the same time. And prayer is powerful because we talk with a powerful God. And so we started sending out these newsletters in 1994 with the hope that others would not only read the articles, but also pray for the people on the prayer list.
